Faculty Updates

We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Michael Georgiou to our faculty team! With an impressive academic background that includes a Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA), a Master’s in Business Administration (MA), and a Master of Science (MSc) in Business Management, Dr. Michael Georgiou brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our department. In addition, Dr. Michael Georgiou holds a Postgraduate Diploma (PgDIP) in Pharmaceutical Sciences, a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Chemistry, and a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) in Medical Engineering, which further reflects a diverse and interdisciplinary expertise. We are confident that his expertise will be a tremendous asset to both our students and faculty, and we look forward to the contributions and innovations that will emerge from this exciting collaboration.

Academic Highlights

Mr. Tony Kyriakidis, the visionary founder of Nevron, offered an insightful perspective on the rapidly evolving world of web technologies during his presentation titled “AI, Progressive Web Apps, and Beyond.” He delved into the transformative potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its integration with Progressive Web Apps (PWAs), shedding light on how these advancements are reshaping user experiences and business operations. His discussion highlighted how AI-driven solutions are revolutionizing website interactivity and automation. With a forward-thinking approach, Mr. Kyriakidis emphasized the growing importance of staying ahead in the technological landscape to unlock new possibilities and drive innovation in the digital world.

Meanwhile, Mr. Pambos Gavrielides, Commercial Manager at Zorbas Group, took the stage to share his valuable insights on the topic of “Leadership”. With his extensive experience in managing commercial strategies and operations, Mr. Gavrielides provided a deep dive into the qualities and practices that define effective leadership. He emphasized the importance of adaptability, empathy, and strategic vision in navigating complex business environments. Through his presentation, Mr. Gavrielides illustrated how strong leadership can inspire teams, foster innovation, and drive organizational success in an ever-changing marketplace. His perspective was a powerful reminder of the significance of leadership in both shaping corporate culture and achieving long-term business goals.

College Partnerships

We are excited to share the news of our new collaboration with The Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies, a higher education and research institution in the Republic of Latvia that conducts scientific research along with academic and professional programs. Its primary mission is to build intellectual capacity to support Latvia’s sustainable development, particularly in rural areas, while striving to become a modern, internationally respected university fully integrated into Europe’s unified space for higher education and science. Established in 1863, the university recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding with INC to foster international cooperation and partnership in various fields, including Business Administration, Hospitality Management, Tourism, Culinary Arts, Bartending, Sciences, Erasmus programs, Research and Innovation, Higher Education Quality Assurance, Developing New Study Programs, and Summer Internships.

Student Spotlight

Cyprus Bar Show

The INC participated in the renowned Cyprus Bar Show, showcasing its commitment to the hospitality and beverage industry while fostering connections between academia and professionals in the field. Students and faculty from the college had the opportunity to engage with industry experts, attend insightful seminars on mixology and bar management, and explore the latest trends and innovations in the world of bartending and beverage service.

The INC’s participation in this prestigious event highlighted its dedication to providing students with real-world exposure and networking opportunities that enrich their academic journey. By taking part in the Cyprus Bar Show, the college reinforced its role in shaping the future of hospitality professionals, offering a platform for students to gain valuable insights, build connections, and stay ahead in an ever-evolving industry.

Sports Day

Students and staff came together in high spirits for a vibrant, fun-filled day of games and competitions, uniting the entire community. The atmosphere buzzed with excitement as participants eagerly took part in various activities designed to foster friendly competition and team spirit.

The true highlight of the day, however, was the spirit of teamwork that thrived, as groups worked together, cheering each other on, and celebrating every win and loss with equal enthusiasm. There was a palpable sense of good sportsmanship, with everyone—whether participating or spectating—showing respect and encouragement for each other’s efforts. The day not only provided a welcome break from routine, but also strengthened bonds between students and staff, creating lasting memories and fostering a strong sense of community.

Milestones

The INC’s Graduation Ceremony was a momentous occasion, celebrating the achievements of the graduating class in a heartfelt and inspiring event. Family, friends, faculty, and staff gathered together to honor the hard work and dedication of the students who had reached this significant milestone in their academic journey. The atmosphere was filled with excitement and pride as graduates walked across the stage, receiving their diplomas and reflecting on the years of study, challenges, and personal growth that led to this achievement. Speeches from faculty members and guest speakers were filled with words of encouragement, urging the graduates to embrace the opportunities ahead and make a meaningful impact on the world. The ceremony was not just a celebration of academic success, but also a testament to the resilience, perseverance, and potential of each graduate, marking the beginning of a new chapter in their lives.

 

Research

In collaboration with Stressball, INC has submitted a research proposal to IDEP under the KA102 scheme, aiming to examine the high unemployment rates among socially disadvantaged groups by analyzing the systemic and structural factors contributing to their exclusion from the workforce.

The study will explore how socioeconomic status, gender, race, and disability intersect to create barriers to employment for these groups. Additionally, it will evaluate the effectiveness of current interventions while identifying the root causes of unemployment. The goal is to develop practical policy recommendations that promote greater workforce integration, equality, and inclusivity for socially disadvantaged individuals.

 

Cultural Insights

Smoky Thursday

Smoky Thursday, also known as Tsiknopempti, is a traditional Cypriot holiday of indulgence, especially for meat lovers. It is observed 11 days before the start of Great Lent and serves as a final opportunity to enjoy meat before the fasting period begins. The date varies each year, depending on Easter, with Smoky Thursday falling on February 20th in 2025. On this day, the air across Cyprus fills with the aroma of grilled meat as families, restaurants, and communities fire up their grills.

Social Life Contribution

Job-Fair Day

Taking the lead in organizing Job Fair Day, INC is providing students with excellent opportunities to connect with potential employers and gain insights into the job market. This initiative helps students advance their careers by enhancing their resumes, refining their interview techniques, and improving their professional preparedness, ensuring they are ready for future job opportunities.
