Dr. Anastasiou – RESEARCH WORK | |
Research interests | Dr. Anastasiou’s scholarly work spans a diverse range of critical topics within hospitality and tourism management and education, with a particular emphasis on education, organizational development, and strategic management of educational institutions. His research has addressed the expectations of international students in Cyprus’s hospitality and tourism higher education, identifying early dropout indicators to enhance student retention and satisfaction. Through studies on hospitality and culinary educators, he has analyzed the implications of tacit knowledge utilization, shedding light on its role in improving educational and professional outcomes. In response to the global challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Anastasiou reflected on the aggressive digital transformation in hospitality education in Cyprus, providing insights into teaching adaptations during crises. His work also explores factors influencing students’ perceptions and choices of vocational programs, focusing on the vocational and technical education landscape in Cyprus. Beyond education, Dr. Anastasiou has contributed to understanding workforce diversity management, service quality improvement, and the interplay between cognitive diversity and organizational performance in hospitality. Furthering theoretical contributions, his research delves into the knowledge-based theory of the firm and its application in management, offering a historical review of the role of theory in this domain. His studies also investigate barriers to tacit knowledge utilization among hotel managers and educators, providing actionable recommendations to bridge gaps in knowledge transfer and practice. With a focus on e-marketing, training effectiveness, and workforce diversity, his work not only addresses industry-specific challenges but also proposes innovative solutions to advance hospitality management and education globally. |
